“O those who do not lovingly sing the hymns praising Lord Murugan, who wields the sharp spear and leads us to moksha—the state beyond rebirth by destroying all our karmas! Will you wait until the god of death, whose eyes blaze like a raging fire that sends forth billowing smoke, casts his noose around your neck, tightens it, and drags you away—only then to think of singing His praise?!”

Thus, this song stands as a question addressed to awaken us.

Time—an ever-turning wheel that never stops. Time and death wait for no one. They are like parallel tracks, moving together without pause. Like one who holds fruit in hand yet cries of hunger, if we fail to sing of the Lord and receive His grace while there is still time, then once death stands before our eyes, the chance to praise Him will be lost. We will be left to wander again and again in this mire of worldly existence.

The god of death is the embodiment of duty;
The Lord Skanthan is the embodiment of compassion. While there is still time, let us sing His praise and become worthy of His grace. With this, I conclude this reflection.

Let us continue in the next.

Thank you,

Shanmugapriya K Sambathkumar
